These are the questions readers and neighbours ask us most often. If yours is not here, send it through the form and an editor will answer.
How do I suggest a story?
Use the contact form or e-mail the editors. Tell us where the story takes place, who is involved and what makes it worth a closer look. A few sentences are enough, and we will write back with questions if we need more.
Will you publish my story or photographs?
We cannot promise that every suggestion becomes an article. We read all of them, and the editors choose based on fit with our sections and whether we can tell the story with care. If we are interested, an editor will contact you directly.
Can I appear in a story and ask to see it first?
Yes. People featured in our stories may read the text and view the photographs before publication. We take requests about wording, captions and which images are used seriously, and we respect a decision to withdraw.
How often do you publish?
We publish about one article a day. Each is dated and filed under one of our four sections: Through the Lens, Community Voices, People & Places or Everyday Moments. The News page lists everything with the newest first.
I spotted a mistake. What should I do?
Please write to us with the article title and what looks wrong. We check against our notes, fix confirmed errors and note the correction on the page. We would always rather hear about it than have it stand.
Can I use one of your photographs?
Our photographs belong to the photographers and the journal, so please ask before reusing any of them. Write to the editors with the image, where you would like to use it and for what purpose, and we will reply.
Do you work with photographers outside Sudbury?
Our stories come from communities across Canada, and the work often begins with someone who knows the place. If you are a photographer or writer with a local story, tell us about it through the form.
How do I reach the editors by phone or in person?
You can call (705) 469-0138 or write to 214 Elm Street, Unit 3, Sudbury, P3E 4C7. E-mail or the form is usually quickest, since editors are often out on assignment and answer messages between visits.
